I believe you must contact verizon, because there is a fee to tether your phone to the computer. I believe the cost is $30.

My understanding is that both the Blackberry and the Macbook Air come equipped with Bluetooth technology which, when activated on both allows the Blackberry to act as a WiFi wireless router.
